STEP by STEP  So don't worry..its very easy to secure your gmail account :) 

1.First  Go to gmail.com and sign in with your email and password. 

2. Now click on account. ..as shown in below in image

3. Now click on security as ashown in below image.. :)

4. Now you are going to activate 2 step verification.. just click on setting  highlighted   in below image..

5. just click on start setup as shown in below image.... :) keep smiling and proceed

6. Now enter your mobile no. in blank field ...like in below image..but enter your mobile no. After entering the mobile no. click on send code button

Note:-enter mobile no. the mobile no. you will use to verify that you are the owner of this email account..

7. After click on send code button . check your mobile you have recieved the verification code from Google . Enter this verification code  on your screen which is looking like below one.

after clicking on verify button... 

congrats you have activated 2-step verification on your gmail account.

Now click on NEXT then click on confirm but first read the above lines
